Weinland Park
Weinland Park began nearly 100 years ago to serve people who took streetcars to jobs downtown or who worked in the manufacturing industries along the railroad lines that mark the eastern boundary of the neighborhood.
Today, Weinland Park is a diverse urban neighborhood with roughly 5,000 residents. It is located between downtown and the University District a short walk from Ohio State’s Columbus campus. In addition to the Schoenbaum Family Center, at the center of the neighborhood are a number of greenspaces as well as the Weinland Park Elementary School serving area families.
Like most urban neighborhoods, Weinland Park has lost jobs and population in the past 40 years, but major public and private investments in the last decade and new commitments for home renovation and new construction showcase community renewal and the evolution of a stable, mixed-income neighborhood.
