Curriculum

Learning experiences at the School for Early Learning start with the ideas of children. Their interests help guide our curriculum emphasizing development of the whole child through inquiry and active and intentionally planned learning experiences.

EMPHASIZING language and literacy development

There is constant infusion of literacy into lessons to help children achieve important developmental milestones.

BUILDING excellent skills

Every planned activity will help children build the essential social, language, and vocabulary skills needed to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.

USING the best method for your child

Our approach to teaching encourages both teachers and children to discover new ways of learning so all children can build language-rich skills, see the perspectives of others, regulate their emotions, and resolve conflict.

SCREENING and Assessments

Teachers use screening and assessments to inform and individualize instruction for each child. This helps ensure all children are on track for later school success. Families meet with teachers at least twice each year to learn details of children’s progress and to set educational goals for home and school.

TRACKING Progress

Each child, upon enrollment, receives a developmental screening which helps establish his or her learning path. We continually assess learning and development throughout the year using teacher observations and other progress-monitoring tools.
